Two of us, one kitchen

Work With Us

J&K's Sweet Spot is two people making desserts out of a home kitchen in Ocala, FL. When a holiday gets bigger than four hands, this is where we look for help.

First, the honest part

We're very small, and very new

There are two of us. We started this year, we work out of our own kitchen, and there is no storefront, no back office and no set schedule. Some weeks there is genuinely nothing to do. The week before Valentine's Day there is more than the two of us can finish.

We're not going to dress that up as something bigger. If a tiny, seasonal, hands-on job sounds good to you, we'd love to hear from you.

The work itself

What a shift actually looks like

This is the part most listings leave out.

  • Weekends and holidays

Most of the work lands Friday through Sunday, and the two weeks before Valentine's Day and Mother's Day are the busiest of our year. If those are the days you need off, we'd rather tell you now than waste your time.

  • On your feet the whole time

There's nowhere to sit in a working kitchen. A shift is standing at a counter, start to finish.

  • A lot of dipping, by hand

Before a holiday it's hand-dipping for hours. The same motion over and over, and it still has to look good on the last one.

  • Lifting and carrying

Trays in and out of the fridge, boxes out to the car on delivery days. Nothing enormous, but you'll be carrying something most of the shift.

  • A house, not a production line

Small counters, one fridge, and everything gets washed as we go. Tidy people are happy here.

  • The hours move

We build the week around whatever orders came in. Some weeks there's nothing at all; a holiday week can be a lot. We can't promise you steady hours, so we won't.

About the money

We'd rather hear your number than post ours

The fine print, in plain words

Two things to know before you apply

Non-negotiable

You have to be 18 or older

Florida law keeps anyone under 18 off power-driven bakery equipment, and in a kitchen this small we'd rather not build a shift around what a minor can and can't touch. So we've made every production role 18+. That's our own call, not the law's.

Why we hire so rarely

We're capped at two helpers

Florida's home-based business rules let us have at most two people working with us who don't live here, and that's two in total, not two at a time. So we hire rarely, and one person at a time.

Your turn

Tell us about you

Six questions, one checkbox and a box for anything else. There is no account to make and no application portal. This is a message to the two of us, and that's all it needs to be.

Days and times, roughly. Weekends and the weeks before Valentine's Day and Mother's Day are when we need help most.

What you're hoping for. We'll be honest about what we can offer.

A number or a range. We'd rather hear yours than post one of ours.

There's nowhere here to upload a resume, so type whatever matters. If we want to see one, we'll ask.

This goes to the two of us and nobody else. We'll follow up by phone or email.

Thank you for supporting our small business!
